10 Ways to Celebrate ‘Family’ With Your Loved Ones
Time spent with family. What could be better? Topping up the memory banks and remembering those special things from your childhood that you want to share to the grandchildren. Like just enjoying being together. These are the most precious things to us. So here’s a few ideas of things to do with your family to make those precious memories.
Our children, now grown with families of their own are around the UK and we only all get together a couple of times a year.
Of course, for all of us this has been made so much more difficult during the last 12 months. By embracing some technology, we have enjoyed some Zoom sessions to celebrate birthdays and Christmas, but it’s not the same as being there for a hug and a natter with a cup of hot chocolate in front of the fire.
So when you are next able to get everyone in the same spaces, here’s some ideas of what to do together so you can really make the most out of your time. Top up those memory banks with great stories to share with future generations of your family.
- Make breakfast together. A celebration calls for a good start to the day. …
- Make your own cards, get ready for that next celebration …
- Go out and enjoy the great outdoors – whatever the weather….
- Take cheesy family portraits – frame them for your photo wall at home …
- Have a family movie marathon – everyone gets to choose their favourite…
- Don’t forget about your pets … they’re welcome too
- Make your own scrapbooks from old photos and relive some old memories …
- Create a new tradition all of your own
- Make a time capsule with one thing from each member of the family
- Meet in the park for a picnic and a good old fashioned egg and spoon race
We were lucky enough to have a wonderful celebration of family this summer to celebrate a milestone birthday, and all the birthdays we had missed being together for over the past months. It was enjoyed by all generations – from our 6 weeks old granddaughter to our 93yr old aunt. The being able to be together and share such a great time was so precious to everybody.
Here’s a pic of our Egg and Spoon race … much hilarity and not just a little bit of cheating going on!
