We bought Morton House in December 1991. We knew from the beginning that it was a really special property – our kids loved growing up here in Masham.

In 2007 & 2008 we undertook a renovation project on the property. The project was carried out thoughtfully in order to retain as many of the fabulous original features as possible, these included exposed beams, open fireplace, wood burner and a fantastic loft master suite. We continue to maintain the property to the highest standards and are always improving the facilities.

The property has been a holiday let since April 2008 when we began welcoming many guests from all over the globe to our characterful property.

Both Columb & Michelle have a strong passion for travelling, visiting new places and experiencing different cultures.

Michelle grew up in New Zealand and also spent quite a bit of time in Australia, she now feels so lucky to live in such a special place as Masham here in the Yorkshire Dales.

“I really enjoy sharing what we have here with other like minded travellers and enjoy making sure they get the best experience whilst staying with us at Morton House.”

With their local knowledge and experience they understand what guests to Masham might want to see and do while they stay in this special place.

We are so fortunate to have 4 grandchildren of our own now who also love visiting us in Masham!

We have 3 grown children, all now living away from Masham, and we also have 4 wonderful grandchildren. Family is hugely important to us and Morton House is a place we all love to get together.

Ideal for large family gatherings and reunions; Morton House and The Stable Block offers the flexibility ofbrilliant spaces for multi-generational families … and we know other families will enjoy it just as much as we do.

Hope we can welcome you here to Masham soon.

Our Second

Since falling in love with Tuscany in 2004 we have been traveling back to the same village every year.

Our children have enjoyed many family holidays here with us and over the years so have many of our friends. In 2016 we were offered the chance to purchase our own piece of paradise and that all finally completed at the end of November 2019.

So the new decade brings with it new adventure for us in renovating and offering our Italian Villa as accommodation and eventually a Terrace Venue for parties and weddings.

In 2022 we were so pleased to have the wedding of our son and new daughter in law here in Cicogna, and it was absolutely perfect!

This is hugely exciting and we hope to see lots of our Yorkshire guests in Italy also!

“Fabulous stay in beautiful Masham in a gorgeous house. Warmly welcomed by Michelle.”

Just a minor thing – but as we are travelling around the UK we are trying to pack light so don’t carry things such as body wash for the shower. We assumed accommodation would provide this. Also there was a washing machine but no laundry detergent. It would have been convenient if this had been supplied – even at a cost. But as I said minor things.   We had the whole house to ourselves. Loved the wood fire. Old world kitchen was lovely. Fully appointed with everything you could need.

“Had a great stay – house and surrounding area had everything we needed.”

Great location. Great accommodation. Great!”

The shower rooms were a little small. The sink was low for anyone with a bad back. (got me out of the washing up though!)  We really liked the underfloor heating. The beds and stay were very cosy and comfortable but with enough space to feel right at home. Great location for discovering Masham (could walk right into town or by the river and the surrounding area!)

“Lovely house, weather was great, enjoy tranquillity in the outdoors. Close to all amenities especially 2 breweries. Had food at Kings Head. Will recommend!”
