Morton House circa 17th Century is one of the oldest properties here in Masham. Thoughtfully renovated in 2008 the property still retains much of the charm and features you would expect to find in a property of this age, including exposed beams, open fireplace, fantastic loft master suite and a farmhouse style kitchen diner.  The rear shared garden is fully fenced, private and is a lovely sun trap when the suns shinning.  There is parking at the front of Morton House on Park Street and further off-street parking can be provided if required on request.  The house is centrally heated throughout so guests will be cosy and warm whatever time of the year the come to stay.

Morton House has 2 reception rooms, a formal sitting room with leather chesterfield sofas and an open fire place and the more informal family sitting room with dual fuel cast iron stove, large flat screen TV and full Sky package. There is a large farmhouse style kitchen which has all the conveniences you would expect to find including a range cooker, dishwasher, microwave, under bench fridges as well as being fully equipped with cooking utensils. The kitchen leads to an impressive spacious open-plan family dining area which enjoys high vaulted ceilings and has seating for 8/9 people.  There is access from the dining room to the fenced back garden. Morton House is a grade II listed stone farmhouse just off the market square in the picturesque market town of Masham. The accommodation is within easy walking distance of all amenities, pubs, shops and of course Masham’s famous breweries – The Black Sheep and Theakstons.  Morton House can be rented on its own or in conjunction with our adjoining property, The Stable Block, therefore able to sleep up to 15 persons in 7 bedrooms

Totally renovated 2007/2008, Morton House has retained much of the charm and features you would expect of a building this age – including exposed beams, open fireplace, fantastic loft master suite and farmhouse style kitchen/diner.  The rear (shared) garden is fully fenced, private and sunny (when the sun shines!) There is parking at the door on the street.  The house is centrally heated throughout and available all year.

The town of Masham is superbly placed for walking and visiting local attractions, some call it the ‘Gateway to the Dales’.  A market has been held here since 1393 when a charter was granted by Richard II and the town subsequently thrived due to the easy access of the f locks from nearby Fountains and Jervaulx Abbeys. It still hosts a market every Wednesday and Saturday, and there are plenty of welcoming pubs and delightful tearooms.

“This is our 33rd week staying in the stable block over last 10 years. Speaks for itself. Our home from home. Comfy and welcoming.”

“Great value accommodation, felt immediately at home & only 2mins walk from Masham market square”

Courtyard / garden space, adjacent to bedrooms & lounge, shared with two other sets of visitors could cause problems, Lovely living space with all facilities, spacious, uncluttered, contemporary with lots of natural light – and good wifi.

“Fabulous stay in beautiful Masham in a gorgeous house. Warmly welcomed by Michelle.”

Just a minor thing – but as we are travelling around the UK we are trying to pack light so don’t carry things such as body wash for the shower. We assumed accommodation would provide this. Also there was a washing machine but no laundry detergent. It would have been convenient if this had been supplied – even at a cost. But as I said minor things.   We had the whole house to ourselves. Loved the wood fire. Old world kitchen was lovely. Fully appointed with everything you could need.

“Had a great stay – house and surrounding area had everything we needed.”

Great location. Great accommodation. Great!”

The shower rooms were a little small. The sink was low for anyone with a bad back. (got me out of the washing up though!)  We really liked the underfloor heating. The beds and stay were very cosy and comfortable but with enough space to feel right at home. Great location for discovering Masham (could walk right into town or by the river and the surrounding area!)

“Lovely house, weather was great, enjoy tranquillity in the outdoors. Close to all amenities especially 2 breweries. Had food at Kings Head. Will recommend!”
